“Dexter” and “Jessica Jones” writer Scott Reynolds reportedly confirmed (via Sciencefiction.com) that he has come onboard as a writer on Netflix’s fourth Marvel series “Iron Fist”.
The project mostly remains shrouded in secrecy at this point, though Reynolds would join Scott Buck who serves as the showrunner on “Iron Fist” and previously worked with Reynolds on “Dexter”.
In the series, Daniel Rand returns to New York City after being missing for years and fights against the criminal element corrupting it with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the power of the fiery Iron Fist.
The news broke as Mike Colter, who starred in the second Marvel & Netflix series “Jessica Jones” and is the title star of the third “Luke Cage,” revealed to Collider that the role of Danny Rand (alter-ego of Iron Fist) has already been cast:
“The actor has been cast, but he’s in a basement somewhere. When the time is right, they’ll let him up and tell him where he is. I am [excited]. I’ll get a nice little break, after doing Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Whether I’m in [his show], I don’t know, but there’s The Defenders.”
What isn’t clear at this point is if the Iron Fist character will appear in “Luke Cage” first in his civilian guise. Production on “Iron Fist” is expected to get underway later this year for airing in 2017.
