Speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour this week, FX network CEO John Landgraf was asked about the fate of Donald Glover’s animated “Deadpool” series.
The small screen adaptation of the wise-cracking Marvel hero from the creator of “Atlanta” was highly anticipated, and a brief leaked clip of an early animation test very well received.
However the show was yanked from production back in March, a move which provoked a reaction from Glover himself who posted seemingly an entire script for an episode of the series. Today, Landgraf explains that it wasn’t the network’s fault – saying it was entirely Marvel’s decision:
“They didn’t want to do the show that Donald and Stephen [Glover] wrote. We would have done the show that Donald and Stephen wrote, but it wasn’t our decision. When Marvel decided not to do that show, we parted company with them, as did Donald and Stephen.”
Glover is still in business with the network with a third season of “Atlanta” due in 2019.
