With Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures now enjoying a mutually beneficial friends with benefits arrangement in regards to their stable of superheroes, one obvious question about their deal has been officially answered today.
We all know Tom Holland will make his debut as the new Spider-Man in “Captain America: Civil War” in a few weeks. Holland will then go on to film his own “Spider-Man” reboot which hits cinemas July 2017. One thing that has been routinely speculated about the latter, but unconfirmed at this point, is if already established characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) might show up in it.
Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige confirms to EW that it’s happening, saying: “He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth.” Feige won’t say who from the MCU would appear, ‘Civil War’ director Joe Russo jumped in and jokingly said: “Let’s just say… Great Lakes Avengers.”
Jon Watts (“Cop Car”) helms the new “Spider-Man” which stars Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Zendaya in a supporting role.
