Marvel Gang Offers Brief “Avengers” Updates

In the lead up to last night’s Marvel Studios panel at Comic Con, the producers and cast members of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” have been talking to press about the movie. In the process a couple of new nuggets of information have come out.

Avengers 3
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige says their recently announced scheduling plans are placeholders based on what other studios are doing, so the delayed slotting in of that May 2018 date was “just a scheduling thing”. They haven’t talked about a date for a third ‘Avengers’ yet, but they’re loosely aiming for the same three year gap they have between the first film and ‘Ultron’.

Feige confirms that Josh Brolin’s Thanos is NOT slated to appear in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” at present, but they are still making the film “so nothing is ruled out”.

Asked if any of the characters from the upcoming Netflix shows are going to jump into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Feige says: “We haven’t talked about that really yet, because it’s early days for that. Daredevil is in production right now, but it is the same universe so there’s always potential for that.”

Hank Pym
Feige says that the domestic abuse elements of Hank Pym’s storyline won’t be included in the “Ant-Man” film. He says “some of the spirit of that plays into his temperament, his gruffness in the film. It certainly does not, in this movie, go to spousal abuse.”

Peggy Carter
It has been revealed that Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter character will have a cameo in the upcoming ‘Ultron’ film, which has had fans wondering if it would be as her younger WW2-era self via flashback, or as the present day elderly version we saw in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. Atwell confirmed at Comic Con that she’s not playing the elderly version.

Andy Serkis
While everyone is keeping quiet regarding which character it is that mo-cap acting legend Andy Serkis is playing, actor James Spader confirmed to that he spent a day filming a scene with Serkis’ character. He said Serkis’ role could be glimpsed in the footage screened at the convention, and the character has a beard.
