Just ahead of the premiere of “Jessica Jones” TV series on Netflix, Marvel TV boss Joe Quesada has spoken briefly about the future of Marvel and Netflix’s collaboration – more specifically he shoots down rumors of where the projects are at.
Talking to IGN, Quesada downplayed recent suggestions that Marvel might abandon plans for an “Iron Fist” TV series or reimagine it as a TV movie: “‘Iron Fist’ is being worked on, that’s all I can say … Where did you read these rumors? Oh, they were on the internet? So they must be true.”
The same rumors suggested that Jon Bernthal’s take on The Punisher, who will make his first appearance in the upcoming second season of “Daredevil,” might get his own spin-off series and/or join the proposed “The Defenders” mini-series. Quesada’s response to that:
“I think we’d love to see something happen, but it’s way too soon to tell, and we don’t necessarily like to discuss which metrics we use to decide these things. What I can tell you, is that anyone who is a hardcore Punisher fan is going to be blown away and incredibly satisfied by Bernthal’s take on Frank Castle. It’s one of those cases where it’s the character from the pages come to life.”
“Jessica Jones” is slated to premiere at 12:01am US-PT tomorrow on Netflix.
