Deadline reports that Mark Ruffalo (“Zodiac,” “Collateral”) is in “late-stage discussions” with Marvel Studios to star as The Hulk in the upcoming superhero team-up project “The Avengers”.
Ruffalo’s name comes up after a busy last day or two false online rumors of candidates to replace the outgoing Edward Norton as the new Bruce Banner. After Joaquin Phoenix’s name first emerged the other day came the likes Adrien Brody, Nathan Fillion and David Tennant.
Ruffalo’s deal is likely being rushed through for the studio to announce the news or even get Ruffalo out on stage at their presentation next Saturday at the San Diego Comic Con.
The Hollywood Reporter added to the report, saying that it’s not as far along as believed with only an offer out to the actor – one he hasn’t yet accepted.
