Margot Robbie To Play Queen Elizabeth I

Margot Robbie is reportedly planning to play Queen Elizabeth I opposite Saorise Ronan as the title character in the upcoming “Mary Queen of Scots” for Focus Features and Working Title.

Crowned Queen of Scotland in the 16th century, Mary was forced to abdicate her throne and soon thereafter was executed at age 18 for her alleged involvement with an assassination attempt on the life of her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I.

“The Tudors” and “Vikings” creator Michael Hirst, who penned Shekhar Kapur’s acclaimed 1998 feature “Elizabeth” and its sequel “Elizabeth: The Golden Age” (which featured Samantha Morton as Mary), is penning the script with Josie Rourke slated to direct.

Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Liza Chasin are producing. The project has still not received the green light.
