Previously indicating he saw no reason to make a further season, filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallee has followed through on his promise and won’t be returning to direct any episodes of the second season of HBO’s “Big Little Lies”.
The Washington Post reports that development is ongoing for the second season and Marc-Vallee will be stepping into a producing role only this time after directing all the first season. There’s no word yet if a single filmmaker will take on the helm or if they’ll use multiple helmers.
Filming on the next season of the series, which stars Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern and Shailene Woodley, begins next spring. Marc-Vallee has already shot the limited series “Sharp Objects” based on the novel by Gillian Flynn and starring Amy Adams.
