Leslie Mann (“This Is 40”) is set as a lead in Amazon Prime Video’s ten-episode global thriller drama series “The Power” based on Naomi Alderman’s subversive feminist sci-fi book. Reed Morano (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) is directing and executive producing
In the series, all teenage girls in the world develop the power to electrocute people at will – a power that’s inbuilt and can’t be taken away from them. Coming alive to the thrill of the ability to hurt or even kill by releasing electrical jolts from their fingertips, they rapidly learn they can awaken the same Power in older women.
Soon enough nearly every woman in the world can do it, and then everything is different. The multi-stranded narrative follows a series of female characters including a vulnerable foster kid turned faith leader, a London crime boss’ daughter, a Nigerian journalist reporting on seismic global change, and Mann’s character – the mayor of Seattle.
Morano, Jane Featherstone and Naomi de Pear executive produce.
