Steven Soderbergh’s male stripper flick “Magic Mike” seems to be turning into a magnet for hunky leading men.
Reid Carolin’s script is loosely based on actor Channing Tatum’s days as a teenage male stripper and when was mentored by a man named Magic Mike. In the film, Tatum will play Mike while Alex Pettyfer will play the young stripper whom he takes under his wing at the exotic club Xquisite.
Now, EW reports that Joe Manganiello, best known as the hunky werewolf Alcide on HBO’s “True Blood”, is set to play another stripper in the film with the rather obvious nickname of ‘Big Dick Richie’.
Matthew McConaughey has already been cast as the former stripper turned Xquisite owner, while “White Collar” star Matt Bomer is also onboard as another stripper.
E! News adds that actress/model and Elvis’ granddaughter Riley Keough has landed a small role in the film, beating out Lindsay Lohan for the part of Pettyfer’s troubled love interest.
E! also adds that the dialogue will include such lines as McConaughey telling his employees “I want you to go back and f k that mirror like you mean it”, while Soderbergh is reportedly not at all adverse to throwing in some full frontal action begging the question which of these stars have got the balls (so to speak) to whip it out on camera.
Shooting begins in September.
