Manganiello Drops Out Of History’s “Six”

Joe Manganiello has dropped out of his leading role in History and The Weinstein Company’s forthcoming military drama “Six”. As a result, production has been put on hold on the eight-episode order with his part to be recast.

The story centers on Navy SEAL Team Six who take on the most high-risk military special-ops missions in the world. Their 2014 mission to eliminate a Taliban leader in Afghanistan goes awry when they uncover a U.S. citizen working with the terrorists.

Barry Sloane, Kyle Schmid, Edwin Hodge and Dominic Adams also star. Manganiello was set to play Rip Taggart, once the squad leader of SEAL Team Six, now working in Africa protecting a small village from Boko Haram. It would’ve been his first series regular role after wrapping “True Blood” in 2014.
