John Malkovich is set to join Steve Carell and the ensemble cast of the upcoming ten-episode workplace comedy series “Space Force” for Netflix.
The story follows the people behind the creation of Space Force, the sixth branch of the military which aims to get “American boots on the moon by 2024”. Carell plays program head General Mark R. Naird, while Malkovich is Dr. Adrian Mallory, a brilliant head science advisor aiming to prevent space from becoming an international battlefield.
Also onboard are Ben Schwartz (“Parks and Recreation”) as media consultant F. Tony Scarapiducci; Diana Silvers (“Into the Dark”) as Mark’s troublemaking daughter Erin; Tawny Newsome (“Brockmire”) as helicopter pilot Angela; Jimmy O. Yang (“Silicon Valley”) as Dr. Mallory’s right-hand man Dr. Chan Kaifang; Alex Sparrow (“UnREAL”) as Russian observer Yuri ‘Bobby’ Telatovich; and Don Lake (“The Resident”) as Mark’s gatekeeper and assistant Brad Gregory.
Paul King has been tapped to direct two episodes of the series, including the pilot while Carell co-created and executive produces the series with Greg Daniels who serves as showrunner.
