“Watchmen” and “Billions” actress Malin Akerman is in negotiations to join the film adaptation of the classic arcade game “Rampage” for New Line.
Like the game, the film will feature three creatures – a monstrously transformed gorilla, crocodile and wolf – who wreak havoc on North American cities and landmarks.
Said to be the final major role to cast, Akerman would play the film’s lead villain opposite Dwayne Johnson as the film’s hero. Akerman’s character is the calculating head of a tech company that created the monsters.
Naomie Harris, Joe Manganiello, Marley Shelton, Jake Lacy, PJ Byrne, Jack Quaid, Matt Gerald, and Breanne Hill co-star in the project which reunites Johnson with his “San Andreas” team of director Brad Peyton and producer Beau Flynn.
Ryan Engle wrote the original draft, with work contributed by Carlton Cuse and Ryan Condal. The film opens April 20th next year.
