Malick’s “Radegund,” Perfume Ad Hit In 2017?

It’s going to be triple your Malick in 2017 as word comes that Terrence Malick’s two films currently in post-production are looking to get a theatrical release this year. On top of that, the master filmmaker has done a commercial as well.

IndieWire reports that may have Radegund, his World War II drama starring Matthias Schoenaerts, ready for release by the end of 2017 – early enough for awards consideration. It would join his upcoming and more commercial “Song to Song” which opens in March and boasts an ensemble that includes Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender and Natalie Portman.

Also, FilmStage reports that Malick has directed a commercial for Guerlain perfumes starring Angelina Jolie. That commercial will be released sometime in March and marks their first collaboration.

The question is will they find an audience? Malick’s “Knight of Cups” and the IMAX cut of “Voyage of Time” both opened last year, the former scoring mixed reviews at best while the latter seemed to inspire both awe and boredom judging by reviews. Both fizzled in theatres earning less than $650,000 combined and neither are in the awards race.
