Malcolm D. Lee (“Night School”) will replace Terence Nance (“Random Acts of Flyness”) as director on the upcoming fantasy sports sequel “Space Jam 2” at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Nance’s departure was said to be due to creative differences between the studio and producers and Nance on his vision for the film. They reportedly came to an amicable split and Lee has been signed on to direct.
LeBron James leads a cast that includes basketball stars like Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Chris Paul, Diana Taurasi, Klay Thompson, and Nneka and Chiney Ogwumike. “Iron Man” actor Don Cheadle and “Star Trek: Discovery” star Sonequa Martin-Green also star.
Filming is expected to get underway this summer from a script by Sev Ohanian (“Searching”) and Ryan Coogler (“Black Panther”). “Space Jam 2” will arrive in cinemas on July 16th 2021.
