George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures is set to team with Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos, the creators of Netflix sensation “Making a Murderer,” for a new scripted TV project.
“America’s Most Admired Lawbreaker” follows the story of a venerable pharmaceutical company which created a powerful drug and marketed it aggressively to children and the elderly while allegedly manipulating and hiding data about its side effects.
The company was investigated and has to pay more than $2 billion in penalties and settlements – not a problem as they made a reported $30 billion in sales of the drug worldwide.
Nicki Paluga will also help to adapt the series which is based on the Huffington Post series of articles by journalist Steven Brill. A network is not yet attached and it’s uncertain how many episodes will make up this event series.
