Maika Monroe (“The Bling Ring”) has joined the cast alongside Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin in Jason Reitman’s coming-of-age feature “Labor Day” at Paintbrush and Paramount reports Variety.
An adaptation of Joyce Maynard’s novel of the same name, Brolin plays an escaped convict who seeks shelter with a depressed single mom (Winslet) and her teen son.
Monroe will play Mandy, a farm girl that the younger version of Brolin’s character (played by Tom Lipinski) romances before serving in Vietnam. She eventually becomes his wife and the mother of his child.
Reitman, Helen Estabrook, Lianne Halfon and Russell Smith will produce.
