Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (“Moonlight,” “Luke Cage”) has confirmed he has not one but two roles in the Robert Rodriguez-directed and James Cameron produced “Alita: Battle Angel”.
Speaking backstage at the Oscars to Movie Pilot, the actor says: “I’m really excited about that. I actually play two parts in that film. That was a blast. I literally wrapped that maybe two weeks ago.”
Christoph Waltz, Michelle Rodriguez, Jennifer Connelly, Jackie Earl Haley, Lana Condor and Ed Skrein also star in the film about an abandoned cyborg (Rose Salazar) saved from the scrap heap who learns to become a warrior and bounty hunter.
“Alita: Battle Angel” is currently targeting a Summer 2018 release date.
