Brett Ratner is set to produce “After.Life” director Agnieszka Vosloo’s “Magnitude 9,” a contemporary update of Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly” set against the 2011 Japanese tsunami disaster.
The tragic love story follows an ambitious US Navy officer who encounters a mysterious local girl as he prepares to return home to his fiancee in Washington.
Filming is scheduled for 2014 in Japan with casting now underway. Alvernia Studios and Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment will produce the project.
