Madagascar Penguins Get Their Own Film

“Megamind” scribes Alan J. Schoolcraft and Brent Simons have been hired to pen an animated theatrical feature based on the penguins in the “Madagascar” film series says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story will follow the plucky paramilitary Antarctic avians Skipper, Kowalski, Private and Rico. No director or release date has yet been locked but Schoolcraft and Simons will develop the story and write the script.

The characters were spun off in a CGI-animated TV show that began on Nickelodeon last year and is now in its second season.
