Mad Max, Hobbit, Penny, Ant-Man Hit Comic Con

Announcements regarding what movies and TV shows are slated to appear at Comic Con later this month have begun popping up.

First up, Warner Bros. Pictures has confirmed that their panel this year at the San Diego Comic Con will include “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies,” “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “Jupiter Ascending”.

Filmmakers Peter Jackson and George Miller are expected to be in attendance this year to show off the first footage from their films. No mention was made of it, but it’s hoped something “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” related will take place.

Star has confirmed that whilst there will be a “Star Wars: Rebels” panel, there will NOT be one for “Star Wars Episode VII” due to the production’s tight turnaround time.

Michael Douglas has confirmed he’s coming to this year’s Comic Con to be a part of Marvel’s panel for “Ant-Man” on Saturday night ahead of the film’s shoot next month in Atlanta. Douglas will only be popping in and out that night as the following morning he’s giving a cancer speech to a group of surgeons in upstate New York.

Immediately following that panel, WBTV and DC Entertainment will hold their three hour special event which includes pilot screenings of “Gotham” and “The Flash” along with footage from “Constantine” and the third season of “Arrow”. That last show’s title star Stephen Amell will be on hand to MC the event and will introduce select stars and producers from each of the four series.

In other TV Con news, Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful” is set to hold a panel on Thursday night. Aisha Tyler will MC the panel which will include the show’s creator John Logan and the three hunky young male stars of the series – Josh Hartnett (Ethan Chandler), Reeve Carney (Dorian Gray) and Harry Treadaway (Victor Frankenstein). Sadly no Eva Green or Timothy Dalton.

Syfy will be busy at this year’s event with panels planned for five shows – “Dominion,” “Defiance,” “Helix,” “Ascension,” “12 Monkeys” – as well as the “Sharknado” telemovies.
