She was on the shortlist, and now Michelle MacLaren has reportedly entered official talks to direct the upcoming “Wonder Woman” film for Warner Bros. Pictures according to The Wrap.
Gal Gadot will star as the character who will first be introduced in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”. It isn’t known if this standalone will be an origin movie, though there has been rumors of it being a 1920s-set prequel.
MacLaren has had a lot of experience on TV, serving as co-executive producer of “The X-Files,” executive producer of “Breaking Bad” and director of acclaimed episodes of “The Walking Dead,” “Game of Thrones,” “Breaking Bad,” “The Leftovers” and “Hell on Wheels”.
MacLaren appears to be ahead of two new names to the shortlist that haven’t been mentioned before – “Homeland” co-executive producer Lesli Linka Glatter and ” The Babadook” helmer Jennifer Kent.
Charles Roven is producing the film which is slated for a June 23rd 2017 release. At this time, Warners and DC have no comment regarding the news.
