Gabriel Macht, Hank Azaria and Oliver Platt have signed on to the romantic comedy “Love and Other Drugs” for Fox 2000 and New Regency says The Hollywood Reporter.
Macht plays a hotshot Prozac salesman who’s invovled romantically with Maggie (Anne Hathaway), a free-spirited woman with Parkinson’s disease who enters into a relationship with charming Viagra salesman Jamie (Jake Gyllenhaal).
Azaria plays an unscrupulous doctor and client of Jamie’s, and Platt plays his boss, a beleaguered pharmaceutical rep desperate to boost Jamie’s sales. Judy Greer and Josh Gad also star.
Ed Zwick (“The Last Samurai,” “Blood Diamond”) is helming the film from a script by Charles Randolph (“The Interpreter”) based on Jamie Reidy’s nonfiction book “Hard Sell”.
Zwick, Marshall Herskovitz, Scott Stuber, Randolph and Pieter Jan Brugge are producing. Filming is scheduled to begin at the end of September.
