Luke Evans Becomes An “Amateur American”

Welsh hunk Luke Evans (“Tamara Drewe,” “Clash of the Titans”) continues rapidly building his resume as FilmNation Entertainment have purchased the action-thriller “The Amateur American” with the intent of building the feature around him in the lead role reports Deadline.

Evans plays young American living in Paris who accepts a job working for a shadowy employer and soon finds himself framed for murder and caught up in a web of deceit.

“Lost in Translation” producer Ross Katz penned the script and will direct. Aaron Ryder and Anthony Bregman will produce and shooting kicks off in September.

Evans has four already shot films coming out this year including playing Zeus in “Immortals,” Aramis in “The Three Musketeers,” a British DI in “Blitz” and Edgar Allan Poe’s assistant in “The Raven” – his performance in ‘Raven’ bringing him to the attention of FilmNation.

He is also already booked for a “Vivaldi” biopic, the action thriller “Dogs of Law” and is a potential candidate to take over for Matt Damon in “The Bourne Legacy”.
