Mike Colter has revealed that principal photography on the second season of Netflix and Marvel’s “Luke Cage” will begin in June with production wrapping in March next year.
Colter, who plays the titular strongman in the series, made the announcement at the Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo this weekend. It follows on from actress Simone Missick, who plays Misty Knight, doing a social media post saying that she had begun working out to reprise her role in the new season.
This would seem to reinforce the talk that Netflix is moving to a three Marvel show seasons per year scenario. This year we got “Iron Fist” S1 in March, we get “The Defenders” in August, and we’re expected to get the recently wrapped “The Punisher” S1 before the year is out.
The second season of “Jessica Jones” began production at the start of April which would suggest it will be the first Marvel show to bow in early 2018. “Luke Cage” S2 will likely go next around mid-2018. A third season of “Daredevil” is slated to shoot later this year, suggesting it will be airing in late 2018.
Additionally this weekend, actress Rosario Dawson has confirmed to Collider she won’t be reprising her Claire Temple role in “The Punisher” series. The lack of cameo seems to be due to a scheduling conflict.
