Baz Luhrmann’s music-driven Netflix series “The Get Down,” which is currently filming its fourth episode in New York City, will take a previously unscheduled break soon to catch up on scripts.
Set in 1970s New York City, the series revolves around a ragtag crew of South Bronx teenagers. Netflix executives are reportedly happy with what they have seen so far in terms of Luhrmann’s vision, and a pause in production is said to be not unusual for ambitious TV productions helmed by A-list filmmakers.
The hiatus is slated to last one episode production cycle (nine filming days) so writing work can be done on future episodes. The current first season order is for thirteen episodes and there is no fixed release date for the series as yet.
