Lucasfilm Sets Blood And Bone Writer

Kay Oyegun (“This Is Us”) has made a deal to pen a new script adaptation of Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi’s epic young adult action fantasy “Children of Blood and Bone” for Lucasfilm and Disney Pictures.

Rick Famuyiwa (“Dope”) remains attached to direct the project which producer Kathleen Kennedy is in the process of making the first non-“Star Wars” feature property to be produced by Lucasfilm since the Disney acquisition.

The first of the Legacy of Orisha novel series, the story follows heroine Zelie Adebola as she attempts to restore magic to the kingdom of Orisha, following the ruling class kosid├íns’ brutal suppression of the class of magic practitioners Zelie belongs to, the maji.

Marty Bowen, Isaac Klausner, Karen Rosenfelt and John Fischer were involved back when the project was setup at Fox 2000 and are still expected to stay onboard.
