James Gray’s “The Lost City of Z” has been announced as the Closing Night film at the 54th New York Film Festival. The film will have its gala World Premiere screening on Saturday, October 15th.
The story follows Lieutenant Colonel Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam), the British military-man-turned-explorer whose search for a lost city deep in the Amazon grows into an increasingly feverish, decades-long magnificent obsession that takes a toll on his reputation, his home life with his wife (Sienna Miller) and children, and his very existence.
Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson also star in the film which has Darius Khondji as the cinematographer but has yet to set a release date. Should the reception be good, a potential end of year limited release to qualify it for awards season is likely.
