“Longmire” writer Daniel C. Connolly is set to pen “Edison”, a period crime drama about inventor Thomas Edison for NBC, Sony Pictures TV and Gran Via Productions says Deadline.
Set in 1880’s Manhattan, the story has Edison working as a secret consultant to the under-trained and under-equipped New York Police force. He uses his inventor instincts and retro-cool devices to deconstruct crime scenes and pioneer new technology.
Despite the period setting, the show will have a modern sensibility akin to the “Sherlock Holmes” films franchise. John Shiban (“Breaking Bad,” “Hell On Wheels”) will oversee the scripting.
Connolly, Shiban, Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein are executive producing.
