“Logan” director James Mangold is in talks to develop and direct a film adaptation of “Savages” author Don Winslow’s new novel “The Force” for 20th Century Fox.
Set to be published in June and said to be akin to “Serpico” and “The Departed,” the story follows a corrupt detective in the NYPD’s most elite crime-fighting unit.
To stop the city’s long-simmering racial tensions from exploding, Sgt. Denny Malone must reconcile the idealistic guardian he still views himself to be with the corrupt cop he’s become – and soon finds himself attacked on all sides.
Ridley Scott, Shane Salerno, and Kevin Walsh are producing. A writer will be set shortly with Mangold helping develop the script.
