The Mirage Group is resurrecting the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” franchise by moving forward with a live-action film based on the origins of the iconic crime fighters reports Variety.
The sewer-dwelling heroes Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael as well as their master Splinter have appeared in three live-action films in the early 90’s and the CG-animated feature “TMNT” in 2007.
This new version will go back to the spirit of the original comics that first spawned the characters in 1984. Unlike the previous films, this version may employ face replacement technology, which would allow the turtles to be much more expressive.
Galen Walker and Scott Mednick are producing. The film will be released in 2011.
