Disney has hired screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna (“The Devil Wears Prada”) to pen “Cruella,” a new live-action film about the villainess from the “101 Dalmatians” movies.
Producer Joe Roth, who is giving a similar treatment to Sleeping Beauty’s villainess with next year’s “Maleficent,” will produce this new take on the dog fur-loving woman.
First appearing in the 1956 novel, De Vil was made famous in the 1961 animated film. Glenn Close portrayed a live-action version of the role for the 1996 live-action “101 Dalmatians” and its 2000 sequel.
The new take on the character is being kept secret.
