Peyton List (“The Flash,” “Mad Men”) and Mekhi Phifer (“Torchwood: Miracle Day”) have joined the cast of The CW’s sci-fi thriller pilot “Frequency” based on Toby Emmerich’s 2000 feature film.
The series follows a female police detective (List) in 2016 who discovers that she is able to speak via a ham radio with her estranged father, Frank Sullivan (Riley Smith), also a detective, who died in 1996 after two years undercover effectively destroyed his marriage and separated him from his little girl.
The two forge a new relationship working together on an unresolved murder case, but unintended consequences wreak havoc in the present day. List and Smith take on the roles that Jim Caviezel and Dennis quaid played in the original.
Phifer will take on the part Lt. Satch DeLeon, the role Andre Braugher played in the original film. DeLeon is a veteran police officer who was a good friend of Frank’s and who became a surrogate father to Raimy.
“Supernatural” showrunner Jeremy Carver penned and is executive producing the series alongside Emmerich, John Rickard, Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz
