Producer and screenwriter Lisa Joy (HBO’s “Westworld”) will pen the upcoming film adaptation of Glen Larson’s 1978 sci-fi TV series “Battlestar Galactica” for Universal Pictures and Bluegrass Films.
The story takes place in a distant corner of the universe known as the Twelve Colonies. The human civilization inhabiting the colonies has been in a war with the Cylons, and after being virtually wiped out by the cybernetic race, the surviving humans are forced to live on spaceships.
Francis Lawrence is reportedly circling the project, but there is no official attachment at this time. Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark will produce.
The film is separate to the multiple award-winning four season-long Sci-Fi Channel series from Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.
