Lionsgate Shoots Down “Hunger Games” Talk

Lionsgate has confirmed the recent reports that both Jennifer Lawrence and Hailee Steinfeld are in the running to play Katniss Everdeen in the film adaptation “The Hunger Games” reports Entertainment Weekly.

However the studio also revealed that no-one is in negotiations and there are no front runners for the role at this time. In fact over thirty well-known actresses have already read for the lead role.

That list also includes the likes of Chloe Moretz, Emma Roberts, Saoirse Ronan, Abigail Breslin, Lyndsy Fonseca, Emily Browning, Shailene Woodley, and Kaya Scodelario.

In this adaptation of the Suzanne Collins novel, the story centers on 16-year-old Katniss who is chosen to represent her region in a nationally-televised fight to the death.

Gary Ross will direct from a script by Billy Ray and production aims to kick off in the next few months.
