Lionsgate has closed a multi-platform rights deal to Patrick Rothfuss’ best-selling epic fantasy book series “The Kingkiller Chronicle”.
The deal allows for simultaneous development of movies, television series and video games with the goal to adapt the many of the stories across numerous mediums.
The books follow Kvothe, a magically gifted young man who grows to be the most notorious wizard his world has ever seen. Two novels and three novellas have been published over the past eight years and have sold over ten million copies.
Robert Lawrence (“Clueless,” “The Last Castle”) will produce the film. Rothfuss reportedly met with various studios this past Summer with Lionsgate ultimately proving the winner.
