The currently in the works Roland Emmerich-directed film “Midway,” about the seminal WWII battle, has had its North American rights acquired by Lionsgate.
In a high-profile deal that took place at the Toronto Film Festival, its been revealed that the project will be armed with a $100 million budget and a P&A spend upwards of $35 million.
Wes Tooke wrote the script for what’s dubbed an epic telling of the Battle of Midway in June 1942, which was the turning point in the Pacific theater of World War II. The story follows the real soldiers and aviators who pulled off the unbelievable
The Mark Gordon Company and Emmerich’s Centropolis Entertainment will co-produce the film which Lionsgate will release States-side as a Summit Entertainment project.
