Lionsgate is reportedly in negotiations to back the former Annapurna untitled feature about former Fox News chief Roger Ailes and the sexual harassment suits that brought him down.
Annapurna backed out of the project last week due to budgetary concerns and while Focus Features was heavily considering coming on board, they opted to decline.
Now Lionsgate is lining up the project which Bron Studios is expected to co-finance. The high-profile title has Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, John Lithgow, Kate McKinnon, Malcolm McDowell, Allison Janney and Margot Robbie attached to star while Jay Roach directs from a script by Charles Randolph.
The film focuses on Ailes’ downfall as seen through the eyes of a group of female employees. The project is different from the upcoming Showtime limited series about Ailes which stars Russell Crowe in the role.
