Lionsgate has acquired the film and TV rights to Timothy Hallinan’s “Junior Bender” crime novel series says Variety.
The story follows a Los Angeles burglar who moonlights as an ad hoc private eye for clients on the wrong side of the law, throwing in old Hollywood and show business stories mixed into the narrative. The tone is akin to crime caper series like “Burn Notice” and “White Collar”.
Hallinan self-published the first two novels as ebooks, this deal coincides with a three-book deal with Soho Crime for worldwide English traditional publishing rights to the series.
Hallinan previously wrote the Simeon Grist and Poke Rafferty book series.
