“Boyhood” helmer Richard Linklater is the frontrunner to direct Jennifer Lawrence in “The Rosie Project” at Sony Pictures and discussions are reportedly underway.
An adaptation of the Graeme Simison novel, the story follows a genetics professor with limited social skills who thinks he has conjured a scientific survey to find a perfect mate. That goes awry when he meets Rosie (Lawrence), a mismatched woman who becomes irresistible to him.
Scott Neustadter & Michael Weber wrote the script while Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan produced. Phil Lord & Christopher Miller were slated to direct but opted out for a young Han Solo movie at Disney.
