Linklater Drops “Limpet” Remake For “Talking”

Richard Linklater has dropped out of the remake of the 1964 family comedy “The Incredible Mr. Limpet” in development at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Linklater’s “Boyhood” has been garnering strong critical praise, and the filmmaker wants to leverage that good will to make his “Dazed & Confused”-esque 1980s university-set project “That’s What I’m Talking About”.

The story follows a group of freshmen as they navigate through the first year of college life, while trying to make the baseball team. He aims to shoot the film as early as this Fall.

Linklater had been attached to the remake of ‘Limpet’ since 2011, but the studio has reportedly already been talking to directors to replace Linklater.
