Though he’s leaving the series so he can return home to the UK and spend time with family, actor Andrew Lincoln isn’t giving up on AMC’s “The Walking Dead” just yet.
Speaking with EW this week, Lincoln says he’s soon going back to the Georgia set – only this time it’s behind the camera in order to observe and train in preparation to direct an episode next year:
“I’m going back. I’m going back to shadow a director, and my intention is to direct next year…I can’t be that far away because I can’t bear it. That’s how much I am invested in the show and the continuation of the story.”
Lincoln wouldn’t be the first actor from the series to take the helm with Abraham himself Michael Cudlitz taking on the gig for one of the upcoming ninth season’s episodes. The new season begins October 7th, check out the opening sequence of the premiere below:
