Lionsgate have announced that “Hamilton” creator and multi-award winning actor, composer, rapper and writer Lin-Manuel Miranda will serve as creative producer and musical mastermind on the upcoming film and TV adaptations of “The Kingkiller Chronicle”.
Lionsgate will simultaneously develop and produce feature films based on Pat Rothfuss’ best-selling book trilogy, and a premium quality drama series that expands on the world outside of the books. The books follow a magically gifted young man who grows to be the most notorious wizard his world has ever seen.
Rothfuss will serve as executive producer for both the proposed film and television adaptations. Miranda is expected to compose the original music and write the songs, and has the option to be involved in future stage productions as well.
Lindsey Beer (“Transformers: The Last Knight”) will adapt the first book onto film. Miranda and Rothfuss will be intimately involved in the development of the new characters and storylines explored in the TV show. Robert Lawrence (“Clueless,” “Die Hard with a Vengeance”) will also produce both adaptations.
