Like Crazy, “Margin Call” Hot At Sundance

Paramount Pictures picked up Drake Doremus’ “Like Crazy” in the early hours of Sunday morning, paying a whopping $4 million for worldwide rights reports Risky Biz Blog.

Playing well to a full house on Saturday afternoon, the mostly improvised romantic drama about two students who fall deeply in love only to be separated because of a visa violation (she’s a UK national).

Their struggle to maintain a connection while embracing other relationships and then each other repeatedly sustain the drama of the film. Anton Yelchin, Felicity Jones and Jennifer Lawrence star.

Meanwhile, Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate have teamed to secure domestic distribution rights to J.C. Chandor’s financial industry thriller “Margin Call”.

Kevin Spacey, Jeremy Irons, Paul Bettany, Zachary Quinto, Demi Moore, Simon Baker and Stanley Tucci all star in the story of a financial firm over a 24 hour period just as the 2008 financial collapse is about to break.

The distributors paid just under $2 million and made a sizable P&A commitment.
