Liam Neeson is set to play iconic detective Philip Marlowe in “Marlowe” for Nickel City Pictures.
“The Departed” and “The Gambler” scribe William Monahan is adapting Benjamin Black’s book “The Black-Eyed Blonde,” the story follows the tough as nails private detective the early 1950s where he is as restless and lonely as ever.
That changes when a beautiful blonde client comes in and asks Marlowe to find her ex-lover. He soon learns the disappearance is just a part of bigger mystery which soon has Marlowe wrapped up with one of the more powerful families in Bay Cities.
Author Raymond Chandler created the famed private detective character who has been portrayed on screen several times by various actors, most notably by Humphrey Bogart in Howard Hawks’ stone cold cinema classic “The Big Sleep”.
