With Gerard Butler joining “Motor City” today, it has brought into question the fate of Robert Luketic’s diamond heist thriller “Brilliant”.
Butler replaced Eric Bana on “Brilliant” a month ago and at the time the film was aiming for a May shoot. Now with ‘Motor’ headed for a June start, it looks like “Brilliant” will be pushed back.
Talking with The Daily Telegraph this week, Luketic couldn’t confirm when or where the film will be shot.
The filmmaker says “I have two films competing with each other. It’s now a matter of the stars coming into alignment and small miracles being performed.”
So if “Brilliant” is one of those films, what’s the other? An as-yet-untitled project starring “The Hunger Games” actor Liam Hemsworth – “I can’t really talk about it but we have had a couple of meetings and he has formally come on board. It will be shot in New York and Mumbai.”
Luketic also has a revenge thriller starring Zhang Ziyi, an animated project in development with “Happy Feet” producers Animal Logic, and a TV series with the makers of hit Aussie period crime series “Underbelly”.
