Barry Levinson (“Bugsy,” “You Don’t Know Jack”) is in negotiations to direct the mob drama “Gotti: Three Generations” for Fiore Films says Variety.
The story focuses on the relationship between John Gotti Sr., the head of the Gambino crime family who died in prison in 2002, and his son John Gotti Jr. who took over the family business.
The younger Gotti served time in prison, but then successfully escaped conviction in four subsequent racketeering trials. John Travolta, Joe Pesci and Lindsay Lohan star.
Nick Cassavetes was previously set to direct but scheduling issues with his indie drama “Yellow” forced producers to release him from his contract.
Shooting kicks off in New York City in the Fall for a late 2012 release.
