Filmmaker Barry Levinson and comedian Billy Crystal are teaming for the feature comedy “Revival”.
The story follows a once-legendary Broadway composer (played by Crystal) who, after a bitter public divorce, gets stuck composing jingles to make ends meet and support his old, incontinent dog Julius who is his only friend.
He soon discovers that a Staten Island high school is staging his most famous musical, and he becomes obsessed with shutting it down. He also tries to kick an addiction to electronic cigarettes.
Phil Primason (“5 Doctors”) penned the script, Levinson would direct and both Levinson and Crystal will produce. The project has not been set up at a studio, but one will likely be secured soon.
Levinson and Crystal have not worked together before aside from serving as executive producers on “Analyze This”.
