Jared Leto is famed for immersing himself in his characters, from extreme weight gain and loss to committed performances across the board.
His casting as The Joker in David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad” has already scored much press for his staying in character throughout the shoot along with the grotesque gags he pulled on his fellow cast members.
Today though he’s spoken with CNBC’s Squawk Box about creating his version of the iconic laugh of his character – it seems he used unsuspecting members of the public to test things out:
“I worked on the laugh walking around the streets of New York and Toronto, and I kinda would walk around the streets and see what laughs would get under people’s skin. You know when you hear someone laugh at a restaurant? It’s a little jarring. I tried them out. And I kind of got to a place where I would laugh and people are always turning around like, ‘Who is this creepy guy behind me?'”
The Joker’s laugh will be heard in full when “Suicide Squad” hits cinemas on August 5th.
