We all know that earlier this year, in the wake of the bad reviews for “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice,” some extensive additional photography took place for David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad”. Earlier this week came word that two different versions of the film were tested with audiences – Ayer’s version and one cut together by the outside agency that did the film’s trailers.
In other words there’s a decent amount of material for the film that was shot which hasn’t made it to the screen – something that can be seen in the promos which include some footage that didn’t make the final cut. Amongst some of the biggest excisions though are scenes with Jared Leto’s The Joker.
Ayer himself earlier this week says there’s little chance of that happening: “There’s no sort of parallel universe version of the movie, the released movie is my cut.”
Meanwhile the first box-office numbers for the film are in with the film making $8.1M on Wednesday from seven markets. It’s a big success it seems, ‘Squad’ is exceeding the likes of ‘Dawn,’ “Deadpool” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” in all those markets in their respective Wednesday previews.
